  • In 2022, leading names in photography such as #stevemccurry and #lalodealmeida, and musical greats including #rosarioflores, Álvaro Soler and #rodrigocuevas, visited the space
  • Exhibitions included “Fusta i Rodes”, “Football. Art. Icons” and “Barcelona’92: the impulse of a city”, a tribute to Olympic Barcelona
  • CASA #seat will continue its commitment this year to being a meeting place where #people, projects and ideas are brought together

CASA #seat brought the year to a close with 194,500 visitors, up from 125,000 the previous year. Since it opened in June 2020, more than 350,000 #people have visited the space located on the corner of Paseo de Gracia and Diagonal. In 2022 they organised 225 public events with a variety of cultural proposals such as concerts, literary talks, exhibitions and performances; conferences on current affairs with national and international guests, and seminars on the latest trends in #mobility.

Where 1+1 equals more than two

CASA #seat celebrated its second anniversary last June, highlighting the power of bringing together different disciplines such as culture and #mobility, art and sports, as well as alliances such as the economy and sustainability, and global current affairs with a local perspective.

As a result of these alliances, it showcased proposals such as the exhibition “Fusta i Rodes” on skateboarding as a form of urban culture, or the “Football. Art. Icons” exhibition, which linked graphic art with football and featured a programme of activities with protagonists such as Patri Guijarro (FC Barcelona) and Sergi Darder (RCD Espanyol). Continuing in the field of sport, figures such as Alexia Putellas, Joan Laporta and Ronaldinho also visited the space.

With the aim of connecting #people, ideas and projects, #casaseat hosted events such as the TEDxBarcelona Awards, which rewarded projects linked to Agenda 2030; it supported the Marketing Leader Awards, celebrating the most innovative proposals in marketing, and the networking sessions of the magazine Emprendedores, where the keys to entrepreneurship were discussed.

A tribute to the city

CASA #seat paid tribute to #barcelona in 2022 with the exhibition “Barcelona’92: the impulse of a city”, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the 1992 Olympic Games. With this exhibition, #casaseat aimed to give the public the opportunity to relive those moments with representatives such as #javiermariscal, #carluspadrissa and #manuelhuerga.

With regard to architecture, the space once again joined the 48H Open House #barcelona festival, opening its doors to 2,933 visitors in one weekend, making #casaseat the second most visited building in #barcelona. In addition, the façade’s advent calendar was lit up on 1 December, where illustrations of the city’s most iconic buildings created by the graphic artist Pablo Benito, PeBe, were revealed each day.

The second edition of Merry Days transformed #casaseat into a Christmas village and toy factory, offering a yuletide experience of aromas, colours and flavours for all ages thanks to the collaboration of Christian Escribà. With three days to go until the exhibition closes, the experience has already attracted 80,000 visitors.

Culture, top-level musicians and a focus on photography

As usual, cultural aspects played an important role in the #casaseat programme, with an agenda full of exhibitions, concerts and literary presentations. Special attention was given to the art of photography with events such as the visit by #stevemccurry, author of the “Afghan Girl”; the conference by #lalodealmeida, the winning photographer of the World Press Photo 2022 Long-Term Project; and the exhibition “Solar Portraits”, a photographic journey through the travels of Rubén Salgado Escudero.

Musical events were staged by renowned figures such as #rosarioflores, Álvaro Soler, María Peláe and #rodrigocuevas, who gave stellar performances in the auditorium. In a format of conversations and live music, the public had the opportunity to live an up-close experience with their favourite artists. The literary programme schedule was rounded off by literary cafés with presentations of the latest publications by Joan Fontcuberta, Miriam Reyes and Joan March.

CASA #seat, with #mobility experts

Prominent #mobility issues were addressed throughout the year with a programme of lectures by national and international experts. For example, Jorge Pereira, Principal Scientific Officer of the European Commission, gave a talk on 5G and connected #mobility, and Chris Thomas, from Assembly Ventures, explained the keys to investing in #mobility.

In September, visitors to #casaseat were treated to a preview of the #cupra UrbanRebel Concept, the new electric car that the brand will be launching in 2025.

Upcoming events

CASA #seat plans to offer a quality programme for 2023, with a unique pairing of disciplines. The first exhibition, “Absolute Surface”, will open on 30 January and will link industrial design with art. The installation is conceived as an itinerary that explores the role of surfaces to convey sensory experiences and intellectual interpretations at the same time.

This itinerary highlights the transformation of the surface from solid (CORE) to liquid (FLUID) attributes, from which the #cupra brand draws inspiration for its designs. The CORE space expresses natural elements such as minerals and stones, while the FLUID universe focuses on expressive paints, seamless materials and kinetic textures.

The year’s agenda will include cycles such as Meet the Artist, featuring intimate interviews with the great figures of music; the latest in literature with the Literary Cafés and a variety of Making of talks by DAMA, taking us behind the scenes of television series, among other surprises.

The #casaseat restaurant will continue to be a favourite place for networking and a way to complete the experience with quality products in an exceptional setting and location.
