STATEMENTS

President Andrea Dell'Orto:

Eicma represents the most important global showcase of an industry that continues to transform itself to produce excellence, focusing on innovation and on a great ability to forecast the market supported by an internal positive trend"

"We see roads that do not yet exist, this 76th edition tells the concrete attention to the tomorrow of mobility on two wheels... the Start Up and Innovation area is a window on the future, an #EICMA bet on young people startuppers”

WHAT’S NEW

Eicma is "The largest container in the world of passion". To use President Dell’Orto words. Inside and Outside, with the racing space area MotoLive, the six pavilions of Fiera Milano-Rho welcome enthusiasts to experience an immersive visit. A new site with all the latest live videos and pictures, a web purchasable ticket and new special areas dedicated to the E-Bike are the first to see new entries on this 2018 edition of #EICMA.

Technology is the real content of the show

Electric motorbikes are a new reality. Harley-Davidson, with the the impressive LiveWire, intends to be the world leader in the electrification of motorcycles, and is aggressively, but wisely, investing in electric vehicle technology; expecting to deliver a full portfolio of electric motorcycles by 2022.

Harley-Davidson LiveWire model offers the rider a new, high-performance experience. Propelled by the immediate torque of an all-electric motor, it is capable of astounding acceleration with just a twist of the throttle – no clutching or gear shifting required. A low centre of gravity, rigid aluminum frame and premium adjustable suspension components give for performance and range optimised for the urban street-rider.

On the other hand, history tradition and dedication have lead to the new legendary #Suzuki #katana. Development began soon after, fall of 2017 when the Katana 3.0 CONCEPT model was introduced at EICMA in Milan. A team of designers and engineers starting from Rodolfo Frascoli concept design, burning the midnight oil in Hamamatsu until satisfied, they had brought together all the elements necessary to create a new legend with the 2020 #Suzuki Katana. Each of the features and performance components underwent many iterations to achieve the desired level of refinement and functional beauty. Not far from the arduous process of creating the Japanese sword from which the model’s name is derived.

Sport

Aprilia RSV4: a winning Racing Department like Aprilia's has earned 54 world titles, seven of which in the World SBK championship. Skills honed on the track and transferred to the factory product to provide everyone with the same excitement that the motorbikes prepared by #Aprilia Racing do. Out of an extraordinary project that never stops growing, introducing the fastest, most powerful and lightest #rsv4 ever, new 217 hp v4 engine even more advanced chassis architecture and brakes and reduced weight. The RR version, equipped with a 201 hp 1000 cc v4 engine, is available in two new and attractive graphic designs. Advanced Track Kit as optional.

With multiple Championships in the WorldSSP category and track day praise from numerous #Kawasaki riders, the #ninjazx6r concept moves to the next level in 2019 with the introduction of a sublime Supersport iteration with equal track day and road prowess.

The list of standard fit rider aids for 2019 is truly impressive including KTRC traction control and in terms of outward looks the fresh new bodywork certainly has “curb appeal”.

Euro4 compliant, the Road Supersport Ninja ZX-6R can perform with the best on a track day then spend the rest of the weekend racking up distances like no other machine it its category.

The new BMW S 1000 RR sees its world premiere at the #EICMA 2018. Lighter, faster and easier to control, with a completely newly developed engine and suspension, engine output increased by 6 kW (8 hp) to 152 kW (207 hp) (in the USA: 151 kW (205 hp)) and a weight reduction of 208 kg to 197 kg (193.5 kg with M Package), the supersports bike originally launched in 2009 now goes into its third completely new generation. Whether in everyday use, on winding country roads or for high-performance race track riding – the new RR leaves nothing to be desired. In particular because #bmwmotorrad has moved the assistance systems such as traction and wheelie control, ABS and Hill Start Control to a whole new level; the same applies to the LED lighting system and large TFT screen. “One second faster on the track, more than 10 kg lighter and easier to control. These targets were taken as the basis for every decision. The result is a fascinating new motorcycle that exceeds the targets we set ourselves and will once again set the benchmark. Claudio De Martino, Vehicle Technology Team Leader.

Naked

The CB650R is a retro-styled #naked based on Honda’s Neo Sports Café concept that was unveiled earlier this year for the #CB1000R and the #CB300R. The design is scaled perfectly for the 650With new, aggressive styling and a racier riding position #Honda CB 650R offers more highly-tuned sports performance for the street. The four-cylinder 650cc engine revs higher, and gets more power and torque, plus #Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and an assist/slipper clutch. A 6kg weight loss means a 8% increase in power to weight ratio. Also new are 41mm Showa ‘SFF’ USD fork, radial-mount four-piston brake calipers and brand-new instruments. A 35kW conversion for A2 licence holders will also be available.

The all-new Brutale 1000 Serie Oro is the #naked sports bike; the only one of its kind in the world. The unmistakable Brutale design cannot depart from such strongly characteristic elements as the headlight, fuel tank and tail fairing, all of which were #custom designed and engineered for this model. Brutale is not just power, but also light weight and efficiency. Carbon fibre is the protagonist of the entire superstructure, including the tail fairing covering. The braking system is, as always, state-of-the-art with the new Brembo Stylema calipers that grip 320 mm diameter floating discs. The attentive aerodynamics study aimed at improving downforce begins to contribute significantly at speeds over 200 km/h improving stability and acceleration. Agusta 4-cylinder 1000 has been entirely redesigned, drawing unabashedly from Superbike racing experience. The titanium radial valves now slide through new sintered valve guides and open up into an entirely redesigned and CNC machined combustion chamber. While remaining loyal to the traditional transverse four-cylinder layout the engineers have revolutionised the original design, leaving only a few castings untouched in the process. Racing is the ultimate test bench of every engineering design, the unrelenting battlefield where every component is stressed to the extreme to allow the rider to harness all the power, bending it to his will.

Offroad

Leading its 2019 line-up is the eagerly anticipated KTM 790 ADVENTURE and KTM 790 ADVENTURE R. “You spoke, we listened.” #KTM is a riders’ company and these all-new models are a direct result of customer feedback mixed with the brand’s experience and expertise. Punching way above their cubic capacities, with these two machines #KTM sets a new performance and offroad ability benchmark in the mid-capacity travel #enduro market.

Yamaha's in-depth off road expertise and outstanding track record are beyond doubt. Now the time has come to re-establish #Yamaha as a leading force in the Adventure segment with the introduction of the all-new Ténéré 700 - a lightweight no compromise Adventure model with one of the highest specifications in its class, and one of the most exciting and significant new Adventure models to be launched for many years. Equipped with the successful CP2 689cc parallel-twin engine and a completely new chassis, the Ténéré 700 is designed to deliver class-leading handling and agility in the dirt - combined with high speed long distance performance on the road - making it an extremely capable and versatile Adventure.
